Pedestrian Crossing New/Modify
2800 White Rock Dr, AustinRequesting illuminated crosswalk at intersection of white rock and shoal creek blvd- to cross shoal creek. There is a 4 way stop at the intersection but 3 of the 4 stop signs have large trees obstructing the view of motorists. This is a route for children that walk and bike to school and needs added layers of safety. Flashing crossing lights for intersection would be a great start
CLOSED · #26-00241600Do Not Recommend Signs or Markings - Close SR. 7/29/26 - Spoke with caller. Caller voiced concerns about vehicles disregarding stop signs at the intersection of White Rock Dr and Shoal Creek Blvd. Caller states that EB, WB, and NB stop signs are obstructed by tree branches. Informed caller that Transportation and Public Works (TPW) does not flashing stop signs. Informed caller that Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHB) are generally appropriate mid-block on Level 3 or 4 roads. White Rock Dr is a all-way stop controlled intersection in a residential area. As a result, TPW does not recommend the installation of a PHB at this location. Issued service ticket with TPW's Urban Forestry to clear obstructions. Informed caller that TPW staff will conduct site visit to determine if advanced stop warning signs are appropriate. 8/4/26 - Conducted site visit. Confirmed 200 feet of sign visibility at all approaches. Transportation Engineering does not recommend installing advanced stop warning signs at this time. Left voicemail requesting call back. 8/11/26 - Unable to reach caller.
